At the November board meeting, Lumbee River EMC’s Board of Directors voted to terminate the contract with CEO Shawn Hunt. At the same time, the Directors appointed Randall Jones as the interim Chief Executive Officer.
“We felt this was in the best interest of our members and employees,” said Rory Eddings, LREMC Board of Directors Chairman. “We wish Shawn the best in his future endeavors.”
You may remember Jones from his many years with LREMC in the past. His career with LREMC began in February 1981 when he was hired as the Cooperative’s Office Manager. Following this, Jones assumed the position of Administrator of Lumbee River Rural Telecommunications Corporation, a subsidiary of Lumbee River EMC. Positions of Assistant to the General Manager, Manager of Human Resources, Director of Industrial, Commercial, and Community Development, Vice President of Key Accounts, and General Manager rounded out Jones’ career. Mr. Jones retired from LREMC in August 2012.
“I am excited to be back with the cooperative again and work with this Board of Directors and these employees as we continue to strive to bring outstanding value to our membership. It is my hope that I can provide guidance and direction as Lumbee River EMC works to transition, to face the many challenges in the electric utility industry.”
