Strike Guard is a surge suppression package that provides two levels of protection to your equipment and appliances. The first is a heavy-duty surge arrester, which is installed at the electric meter. The second is a specially designed plug-in suppressor, which creates a protective barrier around your sensitive electronic equipment.

Types of equipment

Meter Base Arrester Cooper Storm Trapper ($130.00): installed on the outside at meter base and protects the motors and compressors on large appliances from surge-related damage. Installed by Lumbee River EMC with no installation fee. Maximum surge of 55,000 amps with maximum energy of 2,000 joules and a claming voltage – 240 volts.

TS 1200T- Phone ($65.00): Standard outlet protection that includes Phone/Fax/Modem. Ideal protection for a home computer. Installed by customer. Maximum surge of 6,500 amps and a maximum energy of 480+ joules.

TS 1200V- Video ($65.00): Standard outlet protection that includes Video/TV. Just right for television and VCR entertainment center. Installed by the customer. Maximum surge of 6,500 amps and a maximum energy of 480+ joules.

Meter Base Arresters can be leased for $6.50 a month. The $6.50 will be added into the members electric bill each month.

If the member chooses to lease the equipment, the arrester remains the property of Lumbee River EMC and Lumbee River EMC will have all rights to the equipment.

Lumbee River EMC makes no warranties expressed or implied, concerning use or operation of the equipment. However, Lumbee River EMC will replace equipment damaged by natural causes.

The customer may at any time terminate the lease by contacting Lumbee River EMC to remove the equipment.The customer also has the option at any time to purchase the leased equipment.
