That old working refrigerator or freezer in your garage can be costing you more than you realize (See how much). That’s why Lumbee River EMC is offering a $75 rebate for recycling your second refrigerator or freezer.

| If your fridge or freezer was manufactured before 1993 | It's time for a new one.You're wasting $100 or more in electricity to run a fridge that's at the end of its life. Before it breaks and leaves you with a lot of spoiled food on your hands, replace it with an ENERGY STAR qualified fridge or freezer that's no bigger than you need. They cost only half as much to run and offer advanced technology to keep your food fresher longer. Don't let that old fridge take up residence in the garage or basement! |

How to apply
- Submit application before taking appliance to recycling center.
- Once the application is accepted, a Lumbee River EMC representative will contact you to schedule to an on-site visit. (Measurement and verification purposes)
- During the on-site visit a Lumbee River EMC representative will verify that the unit is in working condition and mark the unit with an “X” and remove or cut the cord. The recycler verification form will also be issued at this time.
- You are responsible for transporting the refrigerator or freezer to the recycling center. A list of recycling centers is listed at the bottom of this page.
- The recycler verification form must be signed by a recycling center employee.
- Rebates will be processed within 3-5 weeks after the application and recycler verification form is received. Submit application and signed recycler verification forms to:

Rebate Guidelines
- Applicant must be the member of record for an active, non delinquent account.
- Rebates available for residential, multifamily, and commercial members.
- Rebates available for second refrigerators or freezers. Rebates not available for primary refrigerators.
- Refrigerator or freezer must be located at the address stated on the account.
- Refrigerator or freezer has to be greater than 10 cubic feet in size (up to 30 cubic feet).
- The unit must be clean and in working condition.
- Refrigerator or freezer must be plugged in and cooling in order to qualify for rebate.
- Rebate is $75 per unit. Maximum of two units per member.
- Member must submit application before taking appliance to recycling center.
- Recycler Verification form must be signed by a recycling center employee and submitted to Lumbee River EMC within 60 days of receiving to the form.
- Failure to provide required information may result in denial of the rebate.
- Rebates are rewarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until program funds have been depleted.
- Lumbee River EMC reserves the right to amend or discontinue this program without notice.
- Rebates are available for units recycled on or after April 26, 2010.
